February 2019 TAHS Program: Joyeux Noel – The Christmas Truce of 1914 by Brian McCall

Joyeux Noel – The Christmas Truce of 1914 and the End of Innocence

Brian McCall will focus on the first months of fighting that culminated with the fabled cease-fire that ended the first year of the Great War and how it still resonates with us today, more than a century after the US entered the War in 1917. World War I has received increased attention and study in the past five years, including the 2018 release of the Peter Jackson documentary, “They Shall Not Grow Old”.

Brian McCall has been a member of the Interlochen Arts Academy faculty since 1998 and also has served since 2003 as an adjunct instructor in American History at both Northwestern Michigan College and Ferris State University.
